Executive Overview

THE CLIENT

Uptake was commissioned by Sarla Performance Fibers LTD to design and develop a specialized automated software solution. The primary objective of the project was to bridge the gap between digital recipe management and physical factory automation. By building a centralized, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) web portal integrated with industrial machinery via APIs, the solution automates the mixing, measuring, and dispensing of chemical dyes. The client required a centralized, role-based web application to automate, manage, and audit the precise mixing and dispensing of chemical dyes. The system needed to interconnect seamlessly with physical industrial dyeing machinery through APIs to carry out automated dispensing commands, while managing workflows across multiple internal departments.

PROJECT GOALS

  • Automate Dispensing: Interconnect the software with factory dyeing machinery using APIs to automatically trigger and control physical dispensing processes.
  • Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): Establish a framework to manage users, distinct permissions, and multiple departments within a single unified web portal, utilizing roles such as SUPER-ADMIN, MANAGER, and USER.
  • Streamline Operations: Provide full-lifecycle management for textile execution, including Shade registration, Recipe compilation, Batch scheduling, and Re-dyeing workflows.
  • Enable Configuration Control: Create a robust "Masters" panel to log critical hardware metrics (tanks, solenoids, machines) and chemical attributes (viscosity, density, pH, conductivity).
  • Data-Driven Reporting: Provide administrators with actionable daily and monthly reports tracking the precise consumption of all chemicals and colors used.

THE CHALLENGE

Sarla Performance Fibers faced several key technical and operational challenges in modernizing their factory workflows:

  • Hardware-Software Integration: Successfully establishing bidirectional communication with industrial machinery. If the client cannot provide stable or native APIs for the dispensing hardware, a complex custom integration workaround must be engineered.
  • Data Complexity: Accurately mapping multi-variable configurations — such as chemical fluid states, tank capacities, solenoid variables, and yarn characteristics (denier, filament, ply, lustre) — into an intuitive operational UI.
  • Real-Time Synchronization: Managing high-speed data transmission between the web interface and physical hardware was critical to prevent latency, which could lead to chemical overflow or inaccurate batch mixtures during high-volume production.
  • Operational Transition & Adoption: Moving personnel from traditional, manual mixing methods to a digital-first automated environment required creating an intuitive, user-friendly interface that minimized the learning curve for factory-floor staff.
